Jim Allchin Interview
An interview with Jim Allchin has been published at Channel 9. It’s a fun and interesting interview, you can watch Allchin being very honest about things not working in Windows XP for example, and you can also watch him talking about their holistic and consistent approach to implementing search in Longhorn. This last thing is very interesting because I mentioned Microsoft’s holistic and consistent approach in my recent article.
In that article I also said that a lot of companies can implement certain features promised for Longhorn today, like Apple did with search, but none of them will be able to do it like Microsoft because they lack the holistic approach Microsoft has. And interesting enough, at 44 minutes and 30 seconds into the interview, Allchin mentions how their holistic approach to search is going to integrate it with what they are doing with the UI in Longhorn making it a lot more exciting and consistent.
