Back in 2006 I recommended watching a movie titled “Steal This Film,” which is about file sharing on the Internet centering around the popular website The Pirate Bay. In that movie you can see how the US government got Swedish officials to raid the ISP where the Pirate Bay website was hosted, and how they brought down the website only for it to be brought back online within 3 days by the website administrators. A few days ago I saw a picture on Facebook posted by Lester Chambers, a member of the Chambers Brothers, where he holds up a written sign with his story of dealing with record companies. If you have access to Facebook and his profile, you can see the picture at this link including all the comments on it. Chambers’ story isn’t unique. A group of people, friends of those running the popular Bittorrent tracker called The Pirate Bay, have made a movie on filesharing called “Steal This Film“. You can visit the website and download the movie for free (various formats available) using a Bittorrent client.
