Back in August 2010 I shot the official portrait for the president of Suriname. You can read all about it in a previous blog post titled “Photoshoot: President D. D. Bouterse of Suriname”. I used to be proud of this, but not so much anymore. To be sure, it’s usually an honor for any photographer to be chosen to shoot the official portrait of the president of a country. Read more ⟶
On Simulations and the Purpose of Life
All of my life I’ve wondered: Why am I here? What is the purpose of life? And I think I finally know the answer to both of those questions. In fact, I’ve had the answers for a few years now, and have already shared some of the fundamental information behind the answers on my blog in the past. Read more ⟶
Jesus help me!
Many years ago one of my colleagues played a gospel song in the office during a break at one of my previous employers. I generally don’t like gospel or any other religious songs, but this one caught my attention because of the nice melody and because the female singer had a pleasant voice. You can listen to the song in the embedded video above. Read more ⟶
Yesterday I came across the above interview with German historian Ursula Haverbeck. This interview was conducted in 2015 by Robert Bongen and was broadcast on German TV. In the interview Haverbeck explains why the holocaust never really happened as we’ve been told, and is in fact a big hoax. We’ve been intentionally deceived for many years. Read more ⟶
Creativity, innovation and making mistakes
I came across a very good article written by Espen Brunborg titled “Is the Internet killing creativity?” Brunborg touches upon a number of interesting subjects, and I especially liked the following bit towards the end: But remember this: machines have no imagination. Robots work to a specific set of rules. They follow the recipe. They can’t create something that’s original and meaningful. They have no imagination. Read more ⟶
Read more ⟶
Hello from HTTPS, thanks to Let’s Encrypt
I spent the past weekend implementing HTTPS for my main websites, including this blog, and am glad to report that everything seems to have gone well. If you visit any of my *.kareldonk.com websites and suriname360, you’ll see a (green) lock in the address bar depending on which web-browser you use. Read more ⟶
Why I don’t like speaking in public
I sometimes get invited to speak in front of an audience; I get invited to do workshops or teaching sessions on photography or software engineering, presentations or lectures on subjects that I’ve researched and often blog about, or interviews on a variety of subjects. But most of the time I decline these invitations, and when I do I feel bad about disappointing people and worry that they might get the wrong idea about why I decline. Read more ⟶
Read more ⟶
Why I will never work for any government ever again
In the last couple of years I’ve learned a lot about the anti-social system that we currently live in, known as Statism. I’ve learned about its true purpose and I’ve learned a lot of details about its true workings as well. Like many others before me, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s an evil system, designed to enslave and corrupt everyone living in it. Read more ⟶

A few months ago I was hired to cover the first TEDx Paramaribo event for women as the main event photographer. The TEDx Women events are TEDx events focusing specifically on topics concerning women. The theme for the first TEDx Paramaribo Women event was “Momentum.” In the gallery below you can view some of the photos I took during this event. Read more ⟶
Ten years of blogging
Ten years ago on April 10th, 2005 I launched this blog and posted for the very first time. It began more as a personal homepage instead of a blog, because back then I didn’t yet have a separate website for my services, but in the last 7 years or so it served more as a blog. Ten years is a long time, even though I haven’t always been very active. Looking at the archives it looks like I’ve had at least one post every month. Read more ⟶
Statism: A System for your Enslavement
You were born into a system that enslaved you from the moment you entered this world. All your life you’ve known subconsciously, if not consciously, that there was something seriously wrong with the world you live in. Read more ⟶
Aerial Photography for JP Knight
Back in October 2013 I had the opportunity to do a very exciting assignment for UK based river transport company JP Knight. They wanted images of their operations here in Suriname, and from the beginning it was clear that we’d have to split the work in two assignments; one involving aerial photography and another for industrial type of images taken on the ground. Year in Review 2013 by Bill Gates
I saw over on Business Insider that Bill Gates blogged about things that he thinks made the world better in 2013. I wanted to comment on his blog post and point out what I think many may not realize. Gates pretends to be doing good around the world, and perhaps some of what he’s doing may be beneficial to some people, but overall he’s a big hypocrite. Philanthropy is all about business to Gates and those who support him. Read more ⟶
Launch of suriname360
After many months of hard work I today finally launched suriname360 – a website that features high resolution 360 degrees panoramas and interactive virtual tours of places in Suriname. I’ve had the idea for this website for a few years now but due to other priorities it wasn’t until March of this year that I could start working on this project. Read more ⟶
Canon tries to take down Canonfilmmakers.com website
Canon are at it again and this time they’ve sent a take-down notice to a fan site called Canonfilmmakers.com. The owners of the site have posted some information about the issues on their blog. The exact details of why Canon wants them to take down the website aren’t clear, but what is clear is that the reasons have something to do with claims that the Canonfilmmakers.com website is infringing on Canon’s trademark. Grumman Ag-Cat G-164A for Microsoft Flight Simulator X
I’ve been searching for a nice version of the Grumman Ag-Cat aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator for a very very very long time. There’s a post here on my blog where I first mentioned it back in January 2006, and another one where I mentioned it again in 2007. And even before that, I was searching for this aircraft for older versions of Flight Simulator. Read more ⟶
