Bill Gates essentially admitted recently that Windows Vista sucks. He even laughingly joked about it:
In a fairly frank interview with Gizmodo, Gates was asked if he thought there any Microsoft product that “could have had more polish.”
…
Instead Gates replid: “Ask me after we have shipped the next version of Windows”.
The implication is fairly obvious. Bill thinks that Vista could have had more polish when it hit the shops. He can’t say so now because that would undermine Vista’s already flagging sales.
And here is the video so you can see for yourself.
I’ve written a number of articles about how badly I think Windows Vista sucks. I had warned about it sucking even before it shipped. Microsoft did such a half-assed job, people all over the world are suffering because of it every day. I’m just glad I didn’t pay for it, because I’d have felt so much worse if I had. Especially when you see Gates laugh about it while you know you paid $400 for junk and him making huge profits from it.
And pay special attention to the fact that he can’t talk about how Vista sucks until “after we have shipped the next version of Windows.” In other words, he can’t talk about it now because otherwise nobody would want it. So he’s pretty OK with knowingly selling crap to everyone, and getting richer from it while joking about it on stage. This is even worse compared to when he said that he was against DRM and that DRM was bad for users, while failing to notice that most Microsoft software and hardware products shipping at the time included DRM. Products he was responsible for.
That’s Bill Gates for you, people!
You are making some huge assumptions there.
Is Vista a failure? Maybe, but its what happens when you try to run the world on a electron box. I would like to see what some of you would come up with as your best efforts..lol The fact is, you write a blog, and he built and empire that the world runs on. Lets keep things in perspective here.
I was excited after I installed Vista, but after a few days I noticed that the functionality of the program was in fact not that great. So, I got back to my trusted XP.
Windows Vista doesn’t do the job for me. I never clicked the mouse button so much after installing it.
Way too many menus, not user-friendly at all and it looks like crap-software [sorry for the harshness].
George Ou? Most probably paid by Microsoft to spread Vista propaganda, ignore him.
I once loaded (a not exactly legal copy of) Windows Vista onto my machine to play with it (I kept Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 on separate partitions). It was slow, consumed way more memory than XP (even after I disabled craps like SuperFetch and ReadyBoost), skipped sounds and video when playing DVDs, etc.
I decided that it was crap and I completely removed it from my PC. As I have said before, I won’t pay Microsoft another cent of my money although I have paid for nearly every Windows up to Windows XP. I got a Macbook (and also a Mac mini) and I started experimenting with Ubuntu.
If you have to buy a PC, insist on getting Windows XP with it and not Windows Vista (otherwise do not buy). Or, just get a Mac like me.
Attributing words “Windows Vista sucks” to Bill Gates that were never said is just plain dishonest. It undermines your credibility when you misquote people.
