Remember when Bush landed on that aircraft carrier to give a speech with that big “Mission Accomplished” sign hanging behind him? I can’t help but wonder what the heck changed in Iraq. Things seem to have gotten much worse now compared to when Saddam was still in power there and it keeps getting worse with no sign of any improvements in the near future.
Amazingly few pay any attention to the situation there. You’re not going to see this kind of stuff on CNN and Fox. All the big global organizations like the UN are remaining very quiet, as if nothing is happening. Just makes you wonder what’s going on with the world.
This is what you get when people would rather choose to focus on the positive things in life. It keeps them distracted and allows the negative things to take place and to get worse. What’s worse is that their short-sightedness prevents them from seeing that this also makes things worse for them on the long run.
The Bush administration doesn’t want us focusing on the negative things, that is for sure. In fact I would go so far as to say that they don’t want us to think at all. That kind of attitude fits in perfectly with many people from the religious right who would rather blindly follow some fiction about eternal life rather than face reality and deal with life honestly.
