Years ago at the dawn of digital photography I worked in a computer store here in australia and we sold canon cameras. They were rare and exciting back then and I really wanted to get my hands on the latest compact. While the local canon rep was making a visit I asked him if the IXUS v2 was the latest and greatest and was it about to be superseded. he assured me it was as good as it got for small compacts and would be for some time. so i dropped a cool $1000 (that was the staff discount too) of my hard earned cash on one.

two weeks later… IXUS v2 discontinued and replaced with better model.

lying asshole.

and it was my job to promote and sell canon cameras for him?

Canon SUCKS A$$$!!!!! I am waiting for the RED. Canon is so behind on so many things that they are trying to sell this crap to people. Canon will not be receiving my money-
