We’ll have to see if the white dots are a result of the beta DPP software. I doubt it, as the 50D also had white dot issues. Yes, the 7D might be cleaner than the D300, but this doesn’t mean it couldn’t be much cleaner had it been a 12MP sensor. Not because the 7D is better than the D300 should we be satisfied. It could be way better.

So you’re just going to ignore the wealth of information already posted about the 7D – including the tests which indicate that the 7D is the cleanest high ISO APS-C camera ANYWHERE, or the many intelligent and informative articles which show that the number of pixels isn’t important, it’s the sensor size that really makes a noise difference – just so that you’ve got something to complain about?

Nice.

Seriously – just do some RESEARCH and you’ll find out:

that the white flecks in the high ISO images are a result of conversion in a beta of DPP; that 7D files are within a stop of the 5D Mk II and *far* cleaner than say, the D300); and that far being being “barely usable” at 3200, 7D files have raised the bar for crop cameras that will take a long, long time to better.

I’m just another 3d artist and was wondering if you created any software with your programming experience. And since your website looks pretty impressive. Well.. I am very enthusiastic!!
I am a proud owner of de 5D mark II and really totally don’t have any of the mentioned (online) issues…
I need a second backup camera and I am considering buying the 7D instead of a second 5D mark II.
So I can’t wait to see,feel, test and experience all those promising things!

I don’t know why Galbraith blamed the lens because an equally plausible explanation would be that the 7D is just as bad as the 5D with focusing large aperture lenses. Given Canon’s track record, that would be my guess, but we will see.

Galbraith then later says he thinks it is a problem with the lens, since the lens also doesn’t work well on his 5D. My post is based merely on the specs, and the specs look very good. We will have to see if the 7D will work as advertised once it is available. That’s why I said in the end that I will remain cautious.

Finally, you have some positive feed on a Canon equipment. But, it shows that Canon Inc. has taken notice of the critique and bad reviews about their latest gear before the 7D.
They clearly listened to people like you and others who found serious flaws in the 50D and the 5DmkII bodies.
I personally like the fact that the onboard flash has a wireless trigger installed. Something which I think should’ve been there a long time ago.
I think they will make much more improvement if they incorporate the Image Stabilization in the body and if they finally install something like a modeling lamp, because focusing in complete darkness is a nuisance.
But, yeah, let’s see who is brave enough to buy the 7D

Rob Galbraith said that AF with the EF 85mm f/1.2L II “was all over the place”. I think you are jumping the gun a bit here with your praises for this camera.
